  • Information about the programme

    Dietetics as a field of science integrates knowledge of the principles of nutrition with medical and biochemical foundations and gastronomic technology. The graduate has knowledge in the field of nutrition of healthy and ill people, and food preparation technology. He/she is prepared to conduct research in the field of nutrition and to control food quality, its storage conditions and food production. He/she knows the basics of marketing, food law and law and economics in health care.

    During the course of study, there is an apprenticeship (over 700 hours!) in hospitals, mass catering companies, guest houses, hotels, schools, manufacturers of catering equipment and facilities, etc.

  • Examples of courses

    Nutrition research methodology, geriatric diet therapy, nutrition of pregnant women, lactating women, and infants, psychodietetics

  • Admission

    Admission to the first year of second-cycle studies leading to the degree of Master of Science may be applied for by those who have obtained a diploma with the professional title of engineer in the field of study for which they are applying or with the professional title of engineer or Master of Science in a related field. The diploma and the average grade of the studies are taken into account in the admission procedure.

  • Career perspectives

    The graduate has a basic knowledge of healthy and ill people’s nutrition and food preparation technology. He/she is prepared to work in:

    • public and non-public health care institutions;
    • dietetic consulting centres
    • mass catering establishments and establishments supplying food to hospitals and other mass catering facilities;
    • consumer organisations
    • sports centres and others.

    He/she can also work with:  companies producing dietetic foods and foods for special purposes; doctors in the prevention and treatment of diseases through appropriate dietary intervention.
