In the period from March 6, 2023 to April 4, 2023, a doctoral student of the Doctoral School of UP in Lublin, MSc Paula Grdeń completed a foreign internship at Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic, at the Faculty of Food Technology. The doctoral student’s scientific supervisor was Prof. Soňa Hermanová.

During her internship, the doctoral student prepared pastes based on chickpeas and selected cereal grains (barley, spelt, millet), and then subjected them to a simulated in vitro digestion process. Subsequently, she tested the obtained hydrolysates for antioxidant properties using spectrophotometric methods.

During the internship, in addition to performing the planned research, the doctoral student had the opportunity to get acquainted with the staff, doctoral students and students of the Faculty of Food Technology at Mendel University in Brno, as well as with the equipment and research capabilities of this unit. In addition, the doctoral student had the opportunity to participate in classes on 3D food printing.
The internship was also an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and look for a field for future cooperation. The Mendel University staff bring a very family and friendly atmosphere to their department, making it easier to make contacts and polish English in everyday life. In addition, working with students and doctoral students studying at the department was a great opportunity to make new friends.
