The 1st study visit within the “FOOD Quality in Digital Age” project, coordinated by the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, will be held from 27th February to 2nd March, 2023 at the Mendel University in Brno (Czech Republic). As part of it, we invite those interested, in particular companies working within the food industry, to a networking meeting with the local/regional academic community and project stakeholders.

TRAINING ON 3D FOOD PRINTING

During the study visit, 10 PhD students and 12 researchers from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Serbia will take part in the first module of the 5-modules training on digital food quality evaluation methods. According to their expertise, the researchers from the Mendel University in Brno will provide a training on 3D food printing. One of the key focuses of the Host University is the sustainability by re-using food waste (e.g. whey) as starting ingredients/materials to make new food/edible coating products by innovative technologies. The training will be led by Soňa Hermanová, Ph.D., Mgr., Assoc., who is experienced in 3D printing for biosensing application. Her team has been researching and developing the concept of the novel products preparation from food waste stream by 3D food printer. She starts collaboration with companies utilizing 3D food printers for commercial use in the Czechia and the Slovak Republic by means of practical demonstrations.

NETWORKING EVENT – INVITATION

As a part of the study visit a networking meeting with local/regional academic community and project stakeholders (incl. food producing companies, farmers, business associations, etc.) will be organized. This event is organized as a side-event of the annual Conference Food Quality and Safety. Every year this conference gathers ca. 100 participants from the field of food science and technology. The networking meeting will be a great opportunity to learn about the innovative food quality evaluation methods, exchange knowledge and establish valuable interpersonal links!
