In 2023, thanks to the grant from “Visiting Professors in Lublin” programme organized by Lublin Municipality, two outstanding representatives of the scientific community will visit the USLS: professor Joan Garcia from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain) and professor Clive Wynne from Department of Psychology at Arizona State University (USA).

Prof. Joan Garcia, invited by the Doctoral School, will visit in April. Prof. García carries out interdisciplinary research on the development and improvement of environmental biotechnologies that allow the treatment of wastewaters and other types of wastes whilst mimicking natural functioning and therefore maximizing eco-efficiency. His research is currently focused on the recovery of bioproducts and bioenergy in the context of the circular bioeconomy, nature-based solutions and water reuse.

Prof. Clive Wynne will visit in May at the invitation of Justyna Wojtaś, PhD from Department of Animal Ethology and Wildlife Management (Faculty of Animal Sciences and Bioeconomy). Prof. Wynne specialises in animal psychology and behaviour. The specific focus of his ongoing research is the treatment of problem behaviours in dogs (including shelter dogs) that influence their chances of adoption, as well as improving methods for training sniffer dogs.

The visits of both guests will include classes with undergraduate/PhD students, open lectures and research cooperation with the academic staff of the USLS. The level of internalisation of the academic staff, especially with regards to research initiatives, as well as promotion of science among the Lublin City residents will greatly benefit from the visits.

The financial support of the Lublin Municipality will amount to PLN 36,000.00.

Congratulations!
