On April 25 – May 2, 2022 PhD students of the Doctoral School; Adam Staniszewski and Patrycja Skowronek finished internship at the Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy of the Polish Academy of Science in Wroclaw.

The Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy is one of the most renowned research and development centers operating in the field of immunology and microbiology and a pioneer in the field of experimental bacteriophage therapy in the European Union.

The aim of the internship was to gain basic knowledge and experience in the field of operating transmission electron microscopy. As part of the internship, doctoral students learned about the steps in the preparation of microscopic samples, i.e. preparation of ultra-thin sections (using ultramicrotome), negative staining (using contrasting reagents), preparation of microscopic meshes (using Plasma Cleaner) and applying the preparation on copper grids. The internship took place under the supervision of Paweł Migdał, PhD.
