University of Life Sciences in Lublin employees with prestigious award from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education

The team, which includes employees of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, was awarded the prestigious Ministry of Science and Higher Education prize for significant achievements in implementation activities at the Polish Science Gala on 19 February 2025.

The Polish Science Gala is an integral part of the celebration of Polish Science Day, established in 2020. This unique celebration falls on 19 February, the anniversary of Nicolaus Copernicus birth. The gala is the most important moment of the celebration, being an opportunity to honour outstanding scientists whose achievements have a significant impact on the world around us. This year’s event was organised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in collaboration with Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.

 

‘Science is the foundation of economic, social and cultural development. It is thanks to it that we can meet today’s challenges, create an innovative economy and improve the quality of life for millions of Poles’, emphasised Minister Marcin Kulasek.

 

The highlight of the gala was the presentation of the Awards of the Minister of Science and Higher Education, awarded in five categories:

  •  for lifetime achievement,
  •  for significant achievements in scientific activity,
  •  for significant achievements in teaching activities,
  •  for significant achievements in implementation activities,
  •  for significant achievements in organisational activities.

 

This year, 150 people, whose work is of key importance to the development of Polish scientific thought and didactics, were honoured these awards. Prizes from the Minister of Science and Higher Education for significant achievements in implementation activities were awarded to a team comprising four employees of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin:

  • Ewa Baranowska-Wójcik, BEng, PhD, DSc, Associate Professor
  • Kamila Borowiec, BEng, PhD
  • Iwona Niezgoda, BEng, MSc

  • Przemysław Kołodziej, PhD, DSc

and

  • Marek Koczubik, President of Invent Farm Sp.z.o.o., Lublin

The award-winning team participated, on the part of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, in the development and commercialisation of a functional food product. The product is a nutraceutical for use in the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease.
