University of Life Sciences in Lublin awarded the medal for 550 years of the Lublin Voivodeship

The gala summing up the year 2024, during which University of Life Sciences in Lublin was awarded the Medal of Honour, took place at the Meeting of Cultures Centre in Lublin on 8 January 2025.

2024 was the year of the 550th anniversary of the Lublin Voivodeship. During the ceremony, 33 institutions were honoured for their commitment to the development of the region and the preservation of its historical and cultural identity. Among those honoured was the University of Life Sciences in Lublin and its artistic group: the ‘Jawor’ Song and Dance Ensemble.

The medals for the 550th anniversary of the Lublin Voivodeship from the hands of Marshal Jarosław Stawiarski were received by Rector Krzysztof Kowalczyk and Jerzy Horbowski-Zaranek, head of the Centre for Rural Culture and Folklore.

The Song and Dance Ensemble ‘Jawor’, as the only student group, performed a ceremonial polonaise to the melody of Michał Ogiński. The ‘Leszczyniacy’ Folk Dance Group also performed. In addition, the programme of the meeting included a speech by the Marshal of the Lublin Voivodeship and a concert by Tomasz Momot Orkiestra with the participation of artists from Lublin.
