On 1 October 2026, Lublin’s academic community will come together to mark the beginning of the 2026/2027 academic year. The ceremonial opening organised by the Lublin Universities Association will be held for the fourth time, bringing together representatives of Lublin’s higher education institutions, public authorities, students, university staff and invited guests.

The joint opening of the academic year has become an established tradition in Lublin’s calendar, providing an opportunity to highlight the strength of cooperation among the city’s universities.

The celebrations will begin with a Holy Mass at Lublin Cathedral. This will be followed by the traditional procession through the city, along Krakowskie Przedmieście, through Litewski Square and along Racławickie Avenue, towards the Congress Centre of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, where the main part of the celebrations will take place.

One of the key moments of the inauguration ceremony will be the matriculation of first-year students representing the universities that make up the Lublin Universities Association. Awards will also be presented to the top students from each of the five universities. .

Another important part of the programme will be the inaugural lecture delivered by MEP Krzysztof Hetman, entitled “Polish Science in the Context of the New European Union Budget”.

The Lublin Universities Association – which creates a platform for cooperation between the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Lublin University of Technology, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, the Medical University of Lublin and the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin – consistently undertakes initiatives supporting science, education and students.
