On September 30, 2023 – October 4, 2023, another study trip was held as part of a series of meetings by the Visegrad Fund. This time, Ph.D. students M.Sc. Anna Krajewska and M.Sc. Robert Waraczewski had the pleasure of visiting the University of Belgrade. At the Institute of Meat Hygiene and Technology, under the supervision of prof. Igor Tomašević, all participants could access the color analysis system – Computer Vision System (CVS), which uses a digital device to obtain search results. This modern technique allows the examination of heterogeneous controls such as salami. Using a digital photo, the color of each component of the product can be determined and used applied as CIELab coordinates.
During the study trip, the international scientific conference 62nd International Conference of the Meat Industry (MEATCON2023) also took place, during which many interesting speeches and posters were presented. MeatCon2023 is held at the top of Mount Kopaonik, where post-graduate students are given the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and participate in lectures throughout the day, which they have extended time for themselves by exploring the area, checking out the hotel’s spa, launch and swimming pool.
Participation in the program was a great opportunity to meet representatives of partner universities. During the training, doctoral students exchanged doubts and concerns, while professors offered good advice and actively participated in discussions. It was a perfect chance to practice and put English to the test. The participants look forward to the next Visegrad Fund study visit.
