Project title:

“Development of an advanced method for determining values and reference ranges for calibrators and control materials used in veterinary hematology analyzers”

Project Funding:

The project is funded by the Ministry of Science and Education under the “Implementation Doctorate” program.

Collaborating Entity:

PZ Cormay S.A.

Description and Expected Outcomes:

The project aims to develop an advanced predictive model enabling precise determination of target values and reference ranges for calibrators and control materials used in quality control of veterinary hematology analyzers. Control materials, available at three concentration levels (LOW, NORMAL, HIGH), contain morphotic blood elements whose composition undergoes dynamic changes – cell shrinkage, aggregation, degradation, and random fluctuations. The limited shelf life (2-3 months, and only 14 days after opening) along with the necessity to accurately define values for all hematological parameters simultaneously before shipment to laboratories constitute a key analytical challenge.

The project aims to utilize flow cytometry and reference methods to develop a model predicting changes in aging control blood. The developed methodology will comply with ISO 13485 standards and CLSI guidelines, enabling the elevation of veterinary laboratory diagnostics standards.

The obtained results will be implemented at PZ Cormay S.A., enabling increased diagnostic precision, ensuring metrological traceability, and improving the reliability of hematological tests in veterinary diagnostics.
