As part of the activities defined in the project “Protection of biodiversity of the cross-border areas of Ukraine and Poland from invasive populations of hogweed (Heracleum)” PLUA.01.03-IP.01-0008/23, financed by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT Poland – Ukraine 2021-2027 Program, a smartphone application was developed to support the collection of information on the occurrence of Sosnowsky’s hogweed. The application is intended for researchers involved in the project and requires a login process.
The application allows for quick and convenient mapping of Sosnowsky’s hogweed occurrences. Each user can add a point with the plant’s location, a photo, and additional information regarding population size or development stage. This helps create an up-to-date map of the spread of this dangerous invasive species and supports efforts to control and eradicate it.
The application was developed as part of Task WP2: Development of a digital map and mobile application for monitoring hogweed populations in Poland and Ukraine.
The application is free of charge; it requires access to geolocation during operation. This is necessary to automatically determine the coordinates of the point that is added to the map.
