As part of the activities defined in the project “Protection of biodiversity of the cross-border areas of Ukraine and Poland from invasive populations of hogweed (Heracleum)” PLUA.01.03-IP.01-0008/23, financed by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT Poland – Ukraine 2021-2027 Program, a smartphone application was developed to support the collection of information on the occurrence of Sosnowsky’s hogweed.
The application allows for quick and convenient mapping of Sosnowsky’s hogweed occurrences. Each user can add a point with the plant’s location, a photo, and additional information regarding population size or development stage. This helps create an up-to-date map of the spread of this dangerous invasive species and support efforts to control and eradicate it.
The application was developed as part of Task WP2: Development of a digital map and mobile application for monitoring hogweed populations in Poland and Ukraine.
The application is free of charge; it requires access to geolocation during operation. This is necessary to automatically determine the coordinates of the point that is added to the map. Everyone can contribute to the project’s results. The authors thank you in advance for your cooperation.
