The University of Life Sciences at Lublin Festival 2017

 

The ceremony of awarding the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to Professor Jan Jankowski from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, giving prizes for scientific research and granting Post-doctoral Diplomas were the most important events of the first University of Life Sciences in Lublin Festival, held on 18 May 2017.

 

 

 

 

At the beginning of the ceremony, the Rector, Professor Zygmunt Litwińczuk, expressed his hope that the University Festival, which was established for the first time this year, would become a regular part of the tradition for the academic community at the University of Life Sciences in Lublin. As stated in the Statute, this festival will fall on the third Thursday of May every year.

 

 

The Rector’s Scientific Award, which is a form of rewarding employees for their outstanding achievements in the field of science and research, and for the cooperation with the business community, was also granted for the first time. It was presented in three categories: for a scientific work published in journals with the highest Impact Factor, for the highest number of citations and Stanisław Staszic Prize for application research.

 

 

 

 

The Post-doctoral Diplomas were received by four scientists from the Faculty of Food Sciences and Biotechnology, the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. 

 

The ceremony started with the presentation of the resolution of 24 March 2017 on awarding the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the Senate of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin.

 

Professor Jan Jankowski is an internationally recognized poultry science authority, a specialist in turkey breeding and feeding. His scientific output includes 215 original works and 12 reviews, published in peer-reviewed scientific journals with a total of 3700 points in accordance with the lists of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and an IF total of over 130. Of these publications, 136 are published on the Web of Science and have been cited 849 times with the Hirsh Index 15. He is also a co-author of 16 books, including 4 published abroad.

 

 

Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, professor Jan Jankowski, delivered a lecture entitled ” “Meleagris gallopavo – history and the present”.

 

At the end of the ceremony Gaudeamus Igitur , the hymn of the academic community, was sung.
