Since that time the unit is located at Akademicka street in building of Collegium Veterinarium.<\/p>\n<p>From very beginning scientific activity was related to antigen characteristics of selected bacteria and evaluated within years from chromatography and electrophoresis of proteins up to current time when mass spectrometry is used for protein analysis and identification.<\/p>\n<p>Members of team cooperate with polish and foreign partners with regard to scientific and didactic aspects.<\/p>\n<p>Didactics is great part of everyday activity and is of great concern of whole team.\u00a0<\/p>\n                                        <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t                                                        <div class=\"block-text\">\n\t                                        <h1>Prof. Marta Kankofer<\/p>\n<\/h1>\n                                        <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t                                                        <ul class=\"mn-accordion\">\n                                            <li>\n                                                <h4 class=\"mn-accordion-title\">Curriculum vitae prof. Marta Kankofer<\/h4>\n                                                <div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t                <p>Marta Kankofer graduated from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Lublin in 1987 and immediately started working at Department of Biochemistry of this Faculty.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She defended Her PhD thesis entitled \u201eStudies on the activity and physico-chemical properties of 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase in bovine retained and released placenta\u201d in 1994. She obtained the title of doctor habilitated in veterinary biochemistry in 2002 based on work entitled \u201cStudies on oxidative\/antioxidative balance in physiologically released and retained bovine placenta\u201d while the title of professor she obtained in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>In 1997 she obtained the title of specialist in veterinary laboratory diagnostics.<\/p>\n<p>She was granted 4 long lasting stays in University of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover (1990-1992), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Utrecht (1994-1995) and University\u00a0of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna (2003-2004). Since Oct 2005 she is the head of Department of Biochemistry of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Lublin.<\/p>\n<p>Her scientific interests cover mainly biochemical mechanisms lying upon the attachment and detachment of fetal membranes in cows including the retention of fetal membranes. She was working with enzymes involved in prostaglandin metabolism, connective tissue metabolism, oxidative stress as well as with protein pattern of bovine retained and properly released placenta. She cooperates with national and international entities.<\/p>\n<p>She published her papers among others in Placenta, Theriogenology, Reproduction in Domestic Animals, Virchows Archiv and presented Her results during scientific meetings.<\/p>\n<p>She was awarded with 4 prizes of Rector of University of Life Sciences for outstanding scientific work and 2 for outstanding administrative activity. Her paper published in Placenta was selected for the award of Polish Society for Veterinary Sciences in 2001. In 2015 she and the team were awarded the prize of Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education for innovative teaching in veterinary basic sciences.<\/p>\n<p>She is the member of Polish Society for Veterinary Sciences (currently the head of local section in Lublin), Society for Biology of Reproduction, Veterinary Chamber, Committee of Veterinary Sciences at Polish Academy of Sciences. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She participates in\u00a0teaching of chemistry and biochemistry for veterinary students. She implements innovative methods of teaching which help increasing motivation of students and develop clinical reasoning. Together with coworkers from Biochemistry in Hannover and Physiology from Budapest the team applied for European grant entitled \u201eUse of\u00a0virtual patients\/virtual problems in veterinary basic sciences\u201d and created 30 virtual patients for self study in biochemistry (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vetvip.eu\/\">www.vetvip.eu<\/a>). She gained knowledge and skills in the field of cell culture during two stays at the Institute of Anatomy of the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover. The cell cultures are the model to study the influence of selected hormones and proteins of the extracellular matrix on the process of cell adhesion, which plays an important role in the maturation and functioning of the placenta during pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>She published scientific papers in journals on the <em>Journal Citation Reports<\/em> list, among others in <em>Placenta<\/em>, <em>Reproduction in Domestic Animals<\/em>, <em>BMC Veterinary Research <\/em>and<em> Research in Veterinary Science.<\/em> She presented her research results during scientific national and international conferences and meetings, among others in Giessen, Zurich, Lodi (Milan) and Rostock (Warnem\u00fcnde).<\/p>\n<p>She participates in teaching of Chemistry and Biochemistry for both Polish- and English-speaking veterinary students. The knowledge gained during the study visit in the University of Groningen (Netherlands) as a&nbsp;part of \u201cMasters of Didactics\u201d course, allows her to implement innovative activities to engage students in active learning.<\/p>\n<p>She uses International ERASMUS+ Exchange Programme for academic teachers in order to acquire new laboratory techniques as well as new teaching skills in the field of biochemistry. Virtual cases were prepared in cooperation with University of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Budapest within the frame of European project.
