The Faculty of Environmental Biology was established on 1 September 2019, by a\u00a0 resolution of the Senate of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin of 29 March 2019 (Resolution no. 49\/2018-2019). The first dean of the faculty was prof. dr hab. Tomasz Mieczan and the deputy dean was prof. dr hab. Bo\u017cena Denisow.<\/p>\n

The genesis of the Faculty of Environmental Biology dates back to the end of the 20th century when on 1 September 1993, at the Faculty of Zootechnics, the Environmental Protection branch was created, where scientific staff in the field of biological sciences was gradually employed, mainly in two units: the Department of Zoology and the Department of Hydrobiology and Ichthyobiology. In 1991, at the faculty, a field of study was created – environmental protection. During those years, the successive authorities of the faculty increased the number of “biological employees”. Initially, the staff was recruited from outside of the university, later on, the students of the faculty were trained, they were able to get degrees and academic titles in biological sciences at various universities in Poland (Maria Curie-Sk\u0142odowska University in Lublin, the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toru\u0144, Siedlce University of Natural Sciences and Humanities, The University of \u0141\u00f3d\u017a, the University of Szczecin). In 2020, another field of study related to biological sciences was created – biology (in 2011, a specialisation in forensic biology was created). Those facts were the reason for changing the name of the Faculty, first to the Faculty of Biology and Animal Breeding and later on to the Faculty of Biology and the Faculty of\u00a0Animal Sciences\u00a0and\u00a0Bioeconomy. The above-mentioned operations made it possible in 2018, for the management of the faculty submit an application to the\u00a0Central Commission\u00a0for Academic\u00a0Degrees and Titles to obtain the rights to award the academic title of a doctor in the discipline of biology. Following the decision of the Commission of 28 January 2019, the University of Life Sciences in Lublin (taking into account the personnel from other faculties who are assigned to the discipline of biology) obtained the rights to award a title of doctor of science in the discipline of biological sciences. The above allowed JM Rector of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin – prof. dr hab. Zygmunt Litwinczuk to establish a new faculty – the Faculty of Environmental Biology, which was composed of two organisational units moved from the Faculty of Biology and the Faculty of\u00a0Animal Sciences\u00a0and\u00a0Bioeconomy (Department\u00a0of Hydrobiology and\u00a0Protection\u00a0of\u00a0Ecosystems and Department of Zoology and Animal Ecology) and the units moved from the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture (Department of\u00a0Botany and\u00a0Plant Physiology) and from\u00a0 the Faculty of Production Engineering (Department of Biophysics). With the establishment of the Faculty of Environmental Biology, education in the following fields of study was transferred over there: environmental protection, biocosmetology, biology with a specialisation in forensic biology, which, until then, were part of the Faculty of Biology and the Faculty of Animal Sciences and Bioeconomy. In 2019, another major was created: Biosecurity\u00a0and\u00a0Crisis Management.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

    There are 67 employees at the Faculty of Environmental Biology, including 54 academic teachers: 7 titular professors, 9 university professors with a title of habilitated doctor, 8 assistant professors with a title of habilitated doctor, 20 assistant professors with a doctoral degree, 2 assistants, 4 academic lecturers and 17 engineering and technical staff.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
