The 1st study visit in Lublin within the international project “QKIS (Quadraspidiotus Knowledge Information System) Network”<\/h2>\n

The 1st study visit within the “QKIS (Quadraspidiotus Knowledge Information System) network” project will take place at the University of Life Sciences in Lublin (Poland) on June 18-19, 2024. Awaited meeting will be held at the Department of Plant Protection (Subdepartment of Entomology) University of Life Sciences in Lublin and the hosts of the meeting will be:<\/p>\n

Representatives from Association of Fruit Growers of the Czech Republic Biosad z.s. (Czech Republic), the Institute of Plant Protection, Agricultural Research Center (Hungary) and partners from the University of Belgrade (Serbia) will take a part in the study visit as the members of the project consortium.<\/p>\n

This meeting is the first of three planned study visits, during which Consortium members will work on an invasive pest species, the San Jos\u00e9 scale (SJS), occurring in the V4 region.<\/p>\n

WORKSHOP-DAY<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the laboratory of the Department of Plant Protection (University of Life Sciences in Lublin) the Hosts of the meeting will conduct practical training on the: SJS identification, preparation of microscope slides, the morphological features of particular developmental stages (under the optical microscopy), degree days (effectiveness temperatures) monitoring based on research methodology and SJS management methods.<\/p>\n

NETWORKING-DAY<\/strong><\/p>\n

Project Partners will take a part in field trips to orchards located in Opole district (commune: Wilk\u00f3w, \u0141aziska). During the field trips Partners will have the opportunity to observe the damage caused by SJS in Polish orchards, collect material for analysis and obtain information regarding orchard farmers’ problems caused by the SJS feeding.<\/p>\n

One of the goals of the study visit is to exchange the knowledge and experiences between Project Partners and work on the “Practical guide on SJS monitoring and management in V4 region\u201d. This will be used to create future recommendation for fruit producers and other stakeholders on the SJS management.<\/p>\n
